Be a Prayer Warrior for the Mother Ignacia Healing Ministry

WHY BE A PRAYER WARRIOR

PRAYING FOR OTHERS IS PRAYING FOR YOURSELF TEN FOLD.

PRAYING FOR OTHERS SANCTIFIES AND PURIFIES YOU.

It takes very little of your time to be a Prayer Warrior, only 100 seconds once every two weeks. You simply read prayer requests and make quick instant keyboard prayers.

PRAYER WARRIORS ARE INSTRUMENTS OF THE LORD’S LOVE AND MERCY, OF CONVERSION AND HEALING.

THE LORD LISTENS TO A THOUSAND IN PRAYER. THIS IS THE POWER OF GROUP PRAYER.

PRAYER WARRIORS PRAY FOR AND STRENGTHEN EACH OTHER.

READING PRAYER REQUESTS IS A FORM OF PRAYER.

Prayer warriors report how reading prayer requests have changed them, how they are touched and sanctified. They know they are instruments of the Lord’s love when requestors write back and say they have been healed.

Be a prayer warrior. Try it out. You have nothing to lose and all to gain. Unsubscribe anytime later.

Lateral Thinking Exercise

A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

(Give up?)

(The Lions that have not eaten in 3 years...they're dead.)

Book: Maid of Heaven: All About Joan of Arc

If you are a legitimate school or homeschooler, please contact me directly by email and I will do everything I can to get you copies at either the cost of printing or for free if you are truly financially challenged. I passionately believe that the history of Joan of Arc is one that everyone should study because the lessons that you can learn from the life of Joan are truly priceless and life changing.

Posted via web from I'm just one Roman Catholic

Saint Joan of Arc's Birthday is Jan 6th

Joan of Arc's birth was not officially recorded in the small town where she was born however the people of her town remembered that she was born on Epiphany, or Twelfth-night, which is January 6. The Epiphany celebrates the revelation of God in human form in the person of Jesus Christ and part of the celebration commemorates the arrival of the three "Wise Men" who were led to the baby Jesus by a star in the sky above Bethlehem. It is very significant that Saint Joan was born on Epiphany because she not only led her people to freedom in this world but she ultimately led them, and generations since, to the true freedom that is only found through Jesus Christ.
Saint Joan of Arc is truly a "brilliantly shining light" of the Kingdom of Heaven and will forever point the way to God.

It appears the Democrats in power right now wish to do this outside public scrutiny...far from Mr Obama's pledge when he was running for office of an open process and transparency. Transparency, my dupey. He has been a severe disappointment to me.

How would you react?

A TRUE STORY
It was a freezing January morning. A man sat at a subway station in Washington DC, opened his the violin case, and started playing Bach. His music echoed loud and clear, amplified by the cavernous station. In the winter rush hour, thousands of people passed by on their way to work, mostly ignoring him, or giving a fleeting glance. The shuffle of their feet drowned the music, and when the train left, it would re-emerge.
-
A middle aged man slowed his pace, stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to his appointment. Soon, the violinist received his first dollar tip. A woman threw the money into his open violin case without stopping. Someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, looked at his watch and started to walk again. He was late for work.
-
A 3 year old boy stopped in front of him. His mother pulled him along, but he resisted, intently looking at the face of the violinist. Finally the mother shoved him hard and the child was forced to move along. Several other children did the same. Their parents, without exception, dragged them away by force.
-
In the 45 minutes the musician played six Bach masterpieces, only 6 people stopped and lingered. About 20 gave money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded.
-
The violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played some of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars. Two days before his subway gig, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats average $100.00 each.
-
Joshua Bell playing incognito in the subway was organized by the Washington Post as part of a ‘social experiment’ about perception, taste and priorities of people. Some possible questions from the experiment include –
1
In a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour, can we perceive beauty? Are we capable of stopping for a moment to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?
2
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing some of the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?
3
Do we give value to something only because others do? Do we buy a $100 ticket because many are fighting for them and we do not want to miss out on the ‘goodies’? Why do we ignore beauty when it is staring us in the face, only because it is not ‘packaged’ into our mood and our circumstance?
4
Are our sensitivities and priorities controlled so much by time, social circumstance, and band-wagon pressures? Can we possibly change our lives by changing our perspectives and priorities?
5
If the Washington Post announced the time and place of Bell’s subway gig, would the above story be very different?
6
Finally, why do children create joy out of things adults are too busy to bother with? The poem below explains.

MonteMaria Shrine, Batangas, Philippines

Monte Maria : a breathtaking shrine to Mama Mary in the Philippines (Address below to donate if you wish).

A prayer to our Lord through the intercession of our Mother Mary

September 8 is the birthday of Mama Mary, the Blessed Virgin Mary as she is fondly called by Pinoys. In the not so distant future, Filipinos will take pride in having a shrine dedicated to Mama Mary, Mother of the Poor. The shrine, renamed Monte Maria, located on a mountain peninsula overlooking Batangas Bay on the right and the Verde island on the left, will be like no other in the world. On the tip of the peninsula, a large statue of the Blessed Virgin will be constructed. Stretching 33 stories high, it will be taller than the statue in Rio de Janeiro. 1001 spiral steps will lead to the crown of Mother Mary. Half way up will be a view deck, a perpetual adoration chapel and a 1000 seat chapel. As well a large oratory to the Blessed Virgin Mary will be built on the site. In the lower ground of the oratory, images of popular Philippine Marian devotions – Our Lady of Manaoag, Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Our Lady of Piat, Ina Poon Bato, Our Lady of Caysasay, Our Lady of Antipolo, Our Lady of Mediatrix and Birhen ng Barangay - will be displayed. Monte Maria will be a house of prayer for international pilgrims to come for peace, healing and spiritual rejuvenation.

With the ground-breaking celebration held at Pinamukan, Batangas City on January 7, 2007, the Feast of the Epiphany, and with support coming from all over the world, Fr. Fernando Suarez’ vision is slowly coming to reality. In all his talks while here in Winnipeg, Fr. Fernando emphasized that God, through the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin is using him as an instrument of healing. Monte Maria, he said, is a place being set aside from all eternity for the Blessed Mother so that the nation will be healed and that the poor will be raised up to the dignity and respect they deserve as the children of God.

Those who want to support this project can send their tax-deductible donations to: Mary Mother of the Poor – Monte Maria U.S.A. 1150 N. Kregmont Dr.,Glendora CA 91741

MONTEMARIA is a project of Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation (MMPF), an apostolic initiative being led by Fr. Fernando Suarez Healing Ministry. MMPF is an apostolic initiative whose aim is to ‘seek holiness in evangelizing and working with the poor through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.’

THE HUMBLE HEALER: FATHER FERNANDO SUAREZ

This is a nice write up (intro) on (healing priest) Fr Fernando Suarez.

Some Thoughts about God....

"My name is The Lord Almighty!"  (Is 51:15)

He is worthy!  God is God.  Anything else is a false god, a false idol.

God doesn't want a divided heart. (Who would?!)

He says He is a jealous God for ALL our love.

"But TRUST in the Lord, RELY ON YOUR God." (Is 50:10)

"The BODY was DESIGNED to be a TEMPLE OF GOD." (1 Cor. 3:16)

Psalm 127:1 says,

"Unless the LORD builds the house (ie: you!), they labor in vain who build it."

Have a ravenous appetite for His Word.

"Taste and see how GOOD the Lord is!" (Pslm 34:8)

"Listen, listen to me, and EAT WHAT IS GOOD (The Word!) and your soul will DELIGHT in the RICHEST FARE (nothing is better or higher!)...." (Is 55:2)

God IS sufficient and satisfying!  "It's living and effective"

"Every morning He makes me EAGER TO HEAR what HE is going to TEACH ME."  (Is 50:4)

(Of course, that implies that I am listening with an open heart and desire to HEAR Him.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"With man, this IS impossible, BUT WITH GOD, ALL THINGS are possible!!"  (Matt 19:26)
"The Lord shall FIGHT FOR YOU and you shall hold your peace."  (Ex 14:14)
When tempted GOD WILL PROVIDE A WAY OUT (but you have to LOOK for it & take Him up on it!).  (1Cor 10:13)
"I CAN do EVERYTHING THROUGH HIM who GIVES ME STRENGTH." (Phil 4:13)
"...BE STRONG, and DO NOT GIVE UP, for your work will be rewarded!" (2Chron 15:7)
...His INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER FOR US who believe.  That POWER is like the WORKING OF HIS MIGHTY STRENGTH."  (Eph 1: 18-19)
He has a PLAN, a HOPE, and  a FUTURE for us!!  (Jer 29:11)  He has his New Year Goals for you! ;)
His dreams are FAR GREATER than our own.
God loves YOU and accepts you completely.  His desire is to TRANSFORM each of us FROM WITHIN.
His plans are WONDROUS and beyond FATHOMING!
He is your LIBERATOR!  You were created to be FREE.  He gave you HIS PEACE.  He LIGHTENS your burdens.
"The Lord YOUR God is WITH YOU.  He is MIGHTY to save YOU.  He will take GREAT DELIGHT in YOU.  He will QUIET YOU with HIS LOVE.  He will rejoice OVER YOU with SINGING." (Zeph 3:17)
You are a miraculous masterpiece.  God has unfathomable love for you.  He is love and He loves EACH.  This love is NOT based on your performance.....He will call a sin a sin, as He is Truth, and abhor the sin, because He is Pure...but He always LOVES YOU!!
Our bodies are jars of clay made PRICELESS by the CONTENTS within!  (God, the Holy Spirit!)
"But WE HAVE THIS TREASURE [the presence of God] in jars of clay to show that this ALL SURPASSING POWER is from God and NOT from us." (2 Cor 4:7)
WE ARE VESSELS, CONTAINERS OF THE LIFE OF GOD.
BUT, WE are NOT the contents of the vessel, GOD IS.
 We cannot PRODUCE His life in us, but we CAN REFLECT IT.
The beauty and value of the vessel  is found in WHAT IT CONTAINS.
The BODY was DESIGNED to be a TEMPLE OF GOD." (1 Cor. 3:16)
"Do you not know that YOU ARE A TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit?!"
Consistent Bible-theme = the desire of a holy God to dwell among mortals.
To be in a heart-to-heart relationship with the creatures He made OUT OF LOVE and crowned above all other creation!
Appreciate the great intensity of God's revolutionary words:
"Let them MAKE ME A SANCTUARY (our interior soul!) that I may DWELL AMONG THEM." (Ex 25:8)
We MUST welcome Him and His friendship and Lordship and OPEN our HEARTS.
"THERE I will MEET WITH THEE, I will COMMUNE with thee." (Ex 25:22)
God's glorious incomprehensible desire is to MEET with humans!  HE DESIRES OUR INTIMATE FRIENDSHIP & LOVE.
Is your focus on YOUR WILL BE DONE or GOD'S WILL BE DONE??
"THY WILL BE DONE..."
"My food is to DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER."  (Jesus said in John 4:34)
Do you act as if you were a TEMPLE of GOD??
WHO is God in whom I am asked to trust??
"GOD IS LOVE." (1John 4:8)
"....for Thou hast created ALL things (YOU! ME!) and FOR THY PLEASURE they ARE and WERE created!"  (Rev 4:11)
You are here for God's pleasure and glory!  He didn't create us so that He could have a front row seat at an ongoing saga of our follies and failures.
He created us because He DELIGHTS in us!  Not because He needed us, but HE WANTED us!!  The act was based on the pleasure of His Will!
He doesn't just LOVE us---He likes us!!! :-)
Whether you like it or not, GOD IS CRAZY ABOUT YOU!!!!
Let's use this year to "rebuild our temple".....make it even better for such a wonderful God!
Remember when he said to St Francis...."Rebuild My Temple, it is in ruins." ??  That could very well be said of mankind today.
forget about your eyes and see with your heart
forget about your ears and listen with your soul
only then can you discern
what you have known all the while
which wise men cannot comprehend
but children can see so plainly
praise to You o Father
for what You have hidden from the wise
You have revealed to little children
The More Powerful Things......
peace is a more powerful weapon than war
a smile is more powerful than a sneer
a whisper is louder than a scream
the calm is in the eye of the storm
and total darkness recedes
when a single candlelight glows
God shows His power and strength through our weaknesses...so don't be afraid of them. St Paul said he'd even boast of his just because of this fact. The little statement above reminds us that the world is upside-down...thinking war is powerful, sneers are powerful put-downs, screams make you get your way, and darkness can scare your enemy and confound him....but, in reality, the opposite is true. God works through the little things....the weak things.
o Beauty ever ancient ever new
late have i loved You
You were within me but I was away
there within of late
i searched for You
in my un-loveliness
and You touched me
st augustine
I always loved this of St Augustine. Reminds me of "the sinner's prayer" because a sinner feels this upon return to his senses and repentance....that how beautiful is the Lord, how awesome! How could I have missed this beauty all those years I was steeped in sin?
St Philomena's Oil (genuine)
St Philomena's Oil (genuine)
The Oil of St. Philomena is a sacramental of the Church and any
oil not originating from the Sanctuary of St. Philomena in Mugnano del
Cardinale –
Avellino Italy , simply is
not St. Philomena oil. The blessed oil is distributed to our official
approved worldwide Centres and to all the devotees that make request.
This
Holy Oil CANNOT BE REPLICATED; please distrust in any other
organization that may distribute oil which is not the original blessed
oil of St. Philomena and does not come in the original red bottles of
the Sanctuary, shown in the following pictures.
The lamp that burns before the Sacred Body of St. Philomena
and the original bottles of blessed oil of St. Philomena.
There
are other oils being distributed worldwide by devotional private
movements that is not the original oil of St. Philomena and have no
contact with the Sanctuary. Please distrust in the ones distributed by
the Living Rosary in Dickenson, Texas, USA - run by Patti & Richard
Melvin, the St. Philomena Shrine in Miami Florida - run by Fr. Timothy
Hopkins, a few associations in Switzerland, Philippine, Germany and
Ukraine which is not the Sacred oil of St. Philomena that comes from
the Sanctuary. As we have no contact with them, even though many think
that these associations are linked to us. They were revoked many years
back for not following the directives and many guidelines. To help all
of you distinguish the original and false oil of St. Philomena, please
keep in mind the original bottles of the Sanctuary.
The original red bottles of the Blessed oil of St. Philomena this is distributed from the Sanctuary here.
Oil which is not original
Another
very important thing that was done in the last few weeks and today; the
Living Rosary Association of Dickenson Texas- USA , sent out
newsletters to a list of our devotee's mailing list. I personally
apologise for this and exhort you to not confuse their newsletters with
our official ones, as I received plenty of e-mails asking me if the
newsletter was linked to the Sanctuary and if it was approved by me.
They have no approval from me to do this and if this was possible for
them to send you all the newsletter, it was only done through our Ex
web master Richard Fox still having a copy of the mailing list in his
possession. For those of you that are not informed of the whole back
scenes of this matter, he is working as their webmaster now majorly to
try and disturb our good work from the Sanctuary. For further
information of this situation please read my previous newsletter of
December 2009. If you do not want to receive their newsletters anymore
please unsubscribe from them on their link at the bottom of their
newsletter.
I have worked many years to try
and spread the message to clarify the importance of the original
Sacramental blessed oil of St. Philomena, informing all the worldwide
devotees of the truth, but this still remains a daily question that I
receive from many devotees. Hoping that these frequent detailed
newsletters will help you all spread the word of this frustrating
worldwide abuse of the blessed oil of St. Philomena, plus all the other
situations which I am informing you of through my recent newsletters.
As
I said in my last newsletter, it is time that all the worldwide
devotees are informed of the truth regard the devotion to St. Philomena
for Her major glory and triumph worldwide. The new year is also a new
beginning for the various strategies that I have to face and tackle, there is saying that says “a bold man confronts danger without fear”
as Rector of the Sanctuary of St. Philomena, custodian of Saint
Philomena's Sacred Body and President of the Universal
Archconfraternity of St. Philomena it is my duty to fight back and
protect the Sanctuary of St. Philomena which is Her and all the Saint's
worldwide devotees home on Earth.
“To love Saint Philomena is to love Her Sanctuary Her home on earth”
I
often travel a lot to various worldwide countries to visit all the
worldwide devotees and official centres that do not have the
possibility to come and visit the Sanctuary here. My next coming visit
in the beginning of February will be to some states, churches and
devotional centres in the USA :
You will find
full details following below in this newsletter. Hoping to meet some of
you during the various gatherings and bless you with the Sacred Relic
of our dear Princess.
In the meantime, I
assure you of our prayers, invoking the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary
through the intercession of St. Philomena.
Mainly: the Power of Prayer! In 2010, let all of us who call ourselves Christians give more time to prayer and prayer from the heart...let us walk with God and have faith.
Our nation is steeped in sin (this is nothing new, of course. Jesus' world was as well!)...and we need to take action....use our gifts given to us at Confirmation (for those who are Catholic) and PRAY! God works through power and He wants to act. Sometimes we do many good things, but we don't pray so much. So, that would be a nice 2010 goal in our spiritual lives. Amen?!
THE ESSENTIAL FILIPINO
discovering dreams
-
a british journalist breezed into manila
with an assignment to write
about ‘the essential filipino’
he smiled confidently over his easy assignment
relishing the free tour as complementary reward
-
for three days, he ran around searching
he rejected the business district of makati
which reminded him of cold calculating london
he went to historical places in intramuros
but saw only a glimpse of the past not the present
-
next he tried the native cuisine at market market
delicious yes but nothing on the essential filipino
he was getting not only tired but also nervous
that he has not found his ‘easy’ story yet
time was running out, he had to go back in two days
-
he wasted the next day on inconsequential probes
into malls, churches, monuments
on his last day, he wrote his editor saying that
no one can possibly write about the essential filipino
in so short time, he asked for an extension
-
he was expecting a week, the editor was kind
but he was given only one lousy day extension
in desperation, on his last day
he took a wild stab at marketplaces
in singalong, he sat on a curb too tired to think
-
then he realized his mistake
he was looking for places not people
the thought hit him like a terrorist’s bomb
the essential filipino is a person not a place
how stupid could he be, he thought
-
sitting on the curb in exasperation
he began looking at faces that passed by
he noticed a boy selling fishballs from a rolling cart
he had a torn shirt and was barefoot
what attracted him was not the fishballs
-
the boy gyrated like michael jackson
unmindful of the noisy crowd around him
the journalist approached him
noticing the headphones he wore
he instantly realized it was loud music
-
music that drowned the noise
and transported the boy into his inner garden
the journalist had to scream
in order to bring him back into the real world
the boy removed the headphones
-
*****************
-
JOURNALIST
Hey, what are you doing?
-
BOY
Fishballs, sir, wanna buy?
-
JOURNALIST
Nice earphones, huh?
-
THE BOY GIVES THE EARPHONES TO THE JOURNALIST, WHO PUT THEM ON. HE INSTANTLY REMOVES IT, ALMOST FALLING FROM THE DEFEANING ROCK MUSIC. THE BOY SMILES AND PUT HIS EARPHONES BACK ON.
-
JOURNALIST
Hey, wait, we’re talking.
-
THE BOY REMOVES THE EARPHONES AND HANDS HIM THE TINY MP3 PLAYER FROM HIS POCKET. THE JOURNALIST EXAMINES IT.
-
JOURNALIST
Where did you get this? This is expensive, first-class mp3 player with first-class earphones. Don’t jive with your shirt.
-
HE FLICKS THE HOLE IN HIS SHIRT.
-
BOY
I saved income from selling fishballs for one whole year just to buy that. Nice huh?
-
JOURNALIST
Why don’t you buy a new shirt and shoes?
-
BOY
No need. Not important. Waste of hard earned money. Clothes don’t make me happy, only music.
-
JOURNALIST
You kill yourself selling fishballs the whole day for a year just to buy those?
-
BOY
Why not? What would you buy? What is your dream? Me, my dream is now real. I don’t need shirts and shoes, just a dream of dancing to music becoming real. What is your dream?
-
AT FIRST, THE JOURNALIST IS AT A LOSS FOR WORDS BECAUSE HE REALLY HAS NO ‘DREAM’ IN MIND, OR PERHAPS HIS DREAM IS TO FILE A STORY, THAT IS ALL, BUT THAT IS NOT REALLY A ‘DREAM’. A DREAM MUST BE SPIRITUAL AND FOREVER.
-
JOURNALIST
I guess I have no dream. Or yes I have a dream but it is not a good dream.
-
BOY
Too bad. You must be very sad. Buy yourself an mp3.
-
JOURNALIST
But that is not my dream.
-
BOY
So what is your real dream. There must be something you really really like.
-
JOURNALIST
I have been working so hard to survive that I forget what I really really like. My life is work work work.
-
BOY
But I also work work work. Let me tell you how to have a dream.
-
******************
-
and so the british journalist
was beginning to discern the essential filipino
he was amazed how in his dire poverty
the boy rejected the very materialism
that was gradually destroying affluent society
-
the essential filipino was a free spirit
who was poor and happy all at once
perhaps it came from his insular environment
or from his distant past, his austronesian roots
of nomads in tiny boats roaming the vast seas
-
the journalist took out a notebook
and started writing frantically
the boy peers into his writing, trying to read
and he says aloud ‘essential filipino … free spirit
spiritual dreams … nomadic boat people …
-
*****************
-
BOY
(Grabbing the notebook.) I know this is your dream. You just don’t know it. What you write here is your dream.
-
JOURNALIST
(Stunned at the boy’s perception.) I … I … I guess so.
-
BOY
It is not a guess. You know it. Once you know your dream, you must get it, or else you will be very sad and soon you will die because you know you have no more reason to live for. You cannot live just to live, can you?
-
JOURNALIST
Guess not. Thank you for telling me my dream.
-
ALMOST IN TEARS, THE JOURNALIST HUGS THE BOY AND GIVES HIM A HUNDRED PESO BILL. THE BOY IS STUNNED.
-
BOY
What for?
-
JOURNALIST
Because you help me find my dream that was right in front of my nose all this while.
-
BOY
Yes, you cannot see things that are too near. You have to move back to see.
-
JOURNALIST
Go, buy yourself more music.
-
**********************
-
it took thirty minutes for the journalist
to write his story at his hotel
in ten electronic milliseconds
the story was at the editor’s desk
the editor replied
-
‘this is the best story yet for a long time
our journalists often write about absurd things
but what you wrote
is an important wisdom for the affluent world
stay there for a month and write me more’
-
the journalist had a field day
his dream, like the boy, was now a reality
he would hang around with street vendors
later, he moved to the countryside
and talked to farmers and fishermen
Sister Raquel Blog : About
Background on the Mother Ignacia Healing Ministry
The ministry is an undertaking of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), a Vatican-approved Catholic religious congregation of sisters. The RVM was founded by Mother Ignacia, after whom the ministry is named.
The ministry had small beginnings. When Sister Raquel Reodica, a member of the RVM congregation, was bestowed her healing powers in 1991, she began healing those who approached her. A great portion of these people she has healed through the years were terminal cases, especially from cancer. This is why she has been tagged as ‘cancer healer for the Lord’. Sister Gloria, the other RVM healing nun, started healing as far back as the early 50s. There are other RVM sisters who heal or assist in healing, such as Mother Remy, the mother superior at the healing center as of this writing, December 2006, and Sister Rosales.
Later, because of television and newspaper coverages, the number of visitors ballooned into huge proportions. It was not until many months when the ministry was formalized, not so much in terms of registered name but in terms of volunteers, mostly from those who were healed, helping in the ministry in many different ways. The number of visitors, some from distant lands, gradually tapered into manageable size today.
The primary goal of the ministry is to render healing - spiritual, mental, physical, or financial. The secondary goal is to give material support for the poor in terms of food, scholarships and other means.
There is a free downloadable e-book and/or you can join the Prayer Warriors from the site above.
Grace Before Meals -- a good idea, a good show!
Have you heard of Grace Before Meals?
Grace Before Meals is centered on one fundamental concept: the simple act of creating and sharing a meal can strengthen all kinds of relationships. Founded by Fr. Leo Patalinghug in 2003, Grace Before Meals has grown from a simple idea to a worldwide movement, producing a book, blog and even a pilot for a TV show endorsed by PBS.
Research shows that having frequent family dinners can reduce the susceptibility of teens to risks like teen pregnancy, smoking, drug use and depression. And these benefits don’t just apply to traditional families or people with kids. Stronger families foster stronger communities, and that’s the goal we’re striving for–one meal at a time.
Precious Blood--Protect us!
St. Catherine of Siena was a great adorer of the Precious Blood, so much so that her last words were "Blood...Blood...Blood!" The prayer she composed to the Precious Blood of Jesus which she was known to pray frequently for sinners is:
“Precious Blood, Ocean of Divine Mercy, flow upon us!
Precious Blood, Most Pure offering, procure us every grace!
Precious Blood, Hope and refuge of sinners, atone for us!
Precious Blood, Delight of the Holy Souls, draw us!
Amen.”
St. Gaspar del Buffalo (died 1837) renowned apostle of the Precious Blood and founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (C.PP.S) used to say that he wished he had a thousand tongues to preach about the power of the Blood of Jesus for the salvation of all. Prophetically, St. Gaspar said,
"No! The chastisements of God are not yet at end; still more sorrowful times are ahead; and divine justice will be placated by the devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ."
Nice reminder to pray devotions to the Precious Blood of Jesus in 2010!
Fr. Esper warns of coming Warning
Check out this website I found at pdtsigns.com
Fr Joseph M. Esper starts it with this...then click for full article if interested.
"During the past year and a half the Catholic Church in America has been rocked by revelations of widespread clerical sexual misconduct with minors, made worse by various attempted coverups by ecclesiastical authorities. Many instances of abused trust and lost innocence have come to light, resulting in grave harm to the Church’s overall reputation and credibility. Catholics are being forced to confront some painful questions and realities. Victims wonder if they can remain in a Church so slow to hear their cries for justice, while perpetrators hope for forgiveness and a way to atone for their sins; lay persons wonder if they can trust their priests and bishops, while innocent clergy live with a sense of bewilderment and the fear of false accusation. Parishes who’ve had pastors removed due to misconduct struggle with a sense of shock and loss, potential converts to Catholicism experience new doubts and hesitations, and bishops second-guess their handling of some admittedly very painful and difficult situations. This agonizing process of honest reassessment, which is both necessary and overdue, has the potential to make the Church stronger and holier—and because it forces so many of us as Catholics to confront some painful truths, we might say that in a certain sense, it’s a foreshadowing of the Warning...."
1st Thursdays! :))
For the faithful, a plenary indulgence can be obtained on the opening and closing days of the Year for Priests, on the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Jean-Marie Vianney, on the first Thursday of the month, or on any other day established by the ordinaries of particular places for the good of the faithful.
To obtain the indulgence the faithful must attend Mass in an oratory or Church and offer prayers to "Jesus Christ, supreme and eternal Priest, for the priests of the Church, or perform any good work to sanctify and mould them to his heart."
The conditions for the faithful for earning a plenary indulgence are to have gone to confession and prayed for the intentions of the Pope.
**************************************************
Then, we have our 1st Friday and Saturday's coming up!! :))
Enjoy!!
"Lourdes of America"
I recently just visited what is called "Lourdes of America." I have never heard of it prior to the visit. Have you? It is a lovely place: Sanctuario de Chimayo....people go for healing and touch "healing dirt" (sand) from the holy "pocito" (well) where they found a huge Crucifix in 1810 (leave their memento's for gratitude for healings). The church is an operating parish.
The "dirt" found at the room is known as "pocito" (well) is considered holy because in this spot the crucifix of Our Lord of Esquipulas was found by Bernardo Abeyta in 1810.
If interested, you can find out more at their website: www.holychimayo.us
The Oldest Statue of Mary in the USA!
I love nice-looking statues....of course, the very beautiful ones are but a dream as I could never afford to pay thousands for a statue...but I love to look. Some are so beautiful and serve as a wonderful means to contemplate perhaps certain virtues of the particular saint,etc. Do you enjoy beautiful statues, too?
Well, that being said, I always had my eye on getting a La Conquistadora Statue of Our Lady but they are pretty rare or costly when I do come across one. :) (Oh, yes, one day she shall be mine! hahahahha!)
So, imagine my great joy when she brought me to her! :o What a sweet little mother we have! It really happened & here is the story:
I went to The Cathedral Basilica of St Francis of Assisi (congregation est. 1610!!) in Santa Fe, NM (great city, btw!). Inside, I serendipitously entered (unbeknown to me at the time) La Conquistadora Chapel!
This chapel was built in honor of La Conquistadora, a statue of the BVM, which was brought to Santa Fe in 1626(!) by a Franciscan priest, Fray Alonso Benavides.
Originally named Our Lady of the Rosary, this statue was entitled Our Lady of the Conquest (a name it was given in 1693 when the Spanish Settlers were able to peaceably re-enter Santa Fe). The title has come to be used as a symbol of the manner in which the Blessed Mother can conquer the hearts of her people with her faith and love (isn't that the truth?!).
The backdrop for the statue is a "reredos," a Spanish mural of different designs, depicting various saints.
To the left of La Conquistadora, in the wall, is a coffin of two of the early Franciscan priests! The stained glass window above depicts Archbishop Lamy! (His remains are in the Basilica along with 9 other Archbishops!).
We got to kneel in front of this original statue, so beautiful, so ancient, so-chased by me! (ha!), and pray as a family. It was lovely!
What a wonderful GIFT from Mother to me! I had no clue it was the oldest statue in the US, nor that it was here (nevermind thinking I'd see it). Isn't that just typical of a mother, surprising you with little unexpected joys? (Usually their joy is even greater than the child's, as they love to see the happy delighted "wow!" on the face of their child.)
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee...blessed are Thou amongst women and blessed is the FRUIT of your (Immaculate) womb, Jesus....Holy Mary, Mother of God, ((and my mother)), pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. AMEN! :))
Thanks, Mother!!! You rock!
